Requirements
In order to use the mobile ticket entry application, there are several requirements that must be met. Some of these are user requirements, others are hardware requirements. These will be detailed in their corresponding sections below:
User Requirements
- Training - Depending on the type of ticket done, different training will be required for the use of the application. If the user will be completing full tickets in the field with the device, then Web Ticket Entry training will be required along with training on the application. Information on this procedure can be found at the Miss Utility Website. If you are only interesting in suspending tickets using the device, then the only training needed will be on the use of the mobile application itself. Please contact the VUPS Help Desk for more information.
Hardware Requirements
In order to utilize the mobile application, some hardware is required. The base requirements for the mobile application are as follows:
- Smartphone utilizing Windows Mobile 5 or better
- Touchscreen display
- Wireless (cellular) data connection
- Integrated GPS chipset (a bluetooth external gps is also supported, assuming the device is capable of such connection.)
A list of devices that have been tested and are known to work are listed below. Please keep in mind, this is not an all inclusive list and there may be many other devices from the same (or different) cellular carriers that will work. As other devices are tested, this list will be updated.

1. These devices will add an additional scroll bar on the ticket screen due to their smaller vertical screen size.
2. Currently these devices do not allow access to the internal gps chipset, an update should be released in the near future from Verizon to unlock this capability.
3. Depending on when the phone was purchased, a firmware update may be needed to utilize the internal chipset on the phone.
